BIO

David Bell is a director, animator, and visual artist based in Brooklyn, NY.  His work spans mediums from stop-motion animation and live action film, to drawing, painting, sculpture, miniatures, and puppetry. David has created work for brands and agencies including Apple, Meta, Tiffany and Co, Lowe's, PNC Bank, Prudential, Comcast, Aetna and many others. He has also directed music videos and production designed music videos and feature films.

David frequently collaborates with Joe Scarpulla on stop-motion animation and photography projects. They formed Big Object in 2015 to produce and direct commercial animation, tabletop, and miniature work. They are the recipients of 3 Cannes Lions for their campaings for Lowe’s Home Improvement, and the Grand Jury Prize at the SXSW Film Festival for their animation work on the documentary film Beware of Mr Baker by director Jay Bulger. They are currently in the final phases of production on a 20 minute stop-motion animated film called The Sacred Engine. Their collaborative work can be seen at bigobjectstudio.com

David has taught stop-motion animation and sculpture at the School of Visual Arts and at Parsons: The New School for Design.
